I was asked to clean this ceramic tiled floor at a bungalow in Oswestry that was in a desperate need of a deep clean. As usual I called in on the property to survey the floor and provide a quote for its renovation.
The tiles were meant to be beige limestone in colour but these weren’t your typical glazed ceramic and were made to resemble stone including a textured surface. The rough surface of the tile and grout trapped dirt and this built up over time causing them to darken.
Ceramic tiles won’t take a sealer so I worked out a detailed quote for deep cleaning the tile and grout. The quote was accepted and a day scheduled to do the work.

Deep Cleaning Limestone Effect Ceramic Tile and Grout
The first task was to thoroughly vacuum the areas to be cleaned to remove dry particles from the surface of the tile and grout. This minimises the chance of any grit getting stuck under the pad of the machine later and then scratching the tile.
After the dry soil was removed from the surface, section by section I pre-sprayed the floor with Tile Doctor Pro-Clean diluted to deal with moderate soiling. It was left it to dwell for fifteen minutes then agitated with a scrubbing pad fitted to a rotary machine running at slow speed. Once that was done attention turned to hand cleaning the grout lines with a nylon grout brush.
Once all the agitation was done, the dirty water was extracted with a wet vacuum and the entire floor rinsed to remove all the residue of the cleaning solution. Once completed the floor was given a final rinse this time with Tile Doctor Neutral Tile Cleaner.
Sealing a Ceramic Tiled Kitchen
Ceramic tiles won’t take a sealer as they are already sealed within the manufacturing process. Therefore, once I was happy the floor was as clean as it could be the work was done.
The work was completed in less than a day and my customer was over the moon with the result. I think you will agree from the photographs the floor looks so much cleaner.
Before leaving I left the customer with instructions on how to maintain the floor together with a complimentary Tile Doctor neutral cleaner which is the best product to maintain the floor with.
